Celebrity ownership, low miles, original sheet metal and the retention of its original engine and transmission set this 1969 Mustang Boss 429 apart from the rest, even among these highly desirable NASCAR-powered pony cars. The late actor Paul Walker amassed quite a car collection in his too-short life. Many of them were European and Asian exotics, as one would expect from one of the principles of the “Fast and Furious” film franchise, but Walker also gathered a sizeable number of American muscle cars, including quite a few Mustangs.

This Raven Black 1969 Boss 429 was among them, showing just 14,575 original miles and still wearing its factory body panels. The “KK” in its KK 1773 serial number stands for Kar-Kraft, the Ford subcontractor that built all the Boss 429s due to the time- and labor-intensive nature of the work required to fit Ford’s massive semi-hemi 429 CI V-8 into the Mustang’s engine bay. The 820-T engine in this Mustang is original, routing its 375 HP and 450 lb-ft of torque through the original close-ratio Toploader 4-speed manual transmission to a 3.91-geared Traction-Lok rear end. All Boss 429s were equipped with what Ford called a “competition type” suspension consisting of heavy-duty springs and shock absorbers, as well as thick sway bars front and rear. Power steering was standard, as were power front disc brakes. Kar-Kraft reshaped the Mustang’s fender lips a bit to clear the F60-15 bias-ply tires that were mounted on 15×7 Magnum 500 wheels (with flat black inserts, a treatment found only on Boss 429s). This Boss Nine’s interior features black vinyl high-back bucket seats, an AM radio and the Deluxe Décor group, which added wood-grain vinyl appliques to the dashboard and center console. Color-keyed outside mirrors and a wide-open hood scoop—the better to ram air into the hungry Boss motor beneath—were about the only “racy” exterior cues to the Boss 429’s NASCAR heritage.
