世界的な名車、旧車をカスタマイズしストリートレースや様々なミッションをクリアするカーアクション映画の大ヒット作である「ワイルドスピード」シリーズ。初期の登場車種では、日本車が多く登場しJDM人気を後押ししました。その結果、1990年代の日本のスポーツカーの相場が急騰する事態に。加えて、アメ車の旧車もレストモッド仕様でカスタマイズされており1970年代前後のアメリカンスポーツカーの魅力が高まりました。その後、「ワイルドスピード」シリーズは、クルマメインからアクションメインへと方向性を変更していくことになりますが、人気は高まるばかりです。新作の「ワイルドスピード9」も登場車種の活躍が話題となっています。今回、注目するのは「ワイルド・スピード SKY MISSION（ – スカイ・ミッション、原題：Furious 7、別題：Furious Seven、Fast 7、Fast & Furious 7）」に登場するクルマです。公開は2015年で「ポール・ウォーカー」の遺作となった作品でした。

前作でドミニク達と激しいバトルを繰り広げたオーウェン・ショウ（ルーク・エヴァンス）の兄であり、一国の軍隊と変わらないほどの戦闘力を持つシリーズ史上最強の敵、デッカード・ショウ（ジェイソン・ステイサム）が、東京でハン（サン・カン）を襲撃。 弟の仇を打つべくドミニク（ヴィン・ディーゼル）たちの前に立ちふさがる。 元・特殊部隊の暗殺者であり、格闘でもあのホブス（ドウェイン・ジョンソン）と互角に渡り合うほどの圧倒的強さをもつイアン。 そんな強大な敵を前に、ドミニクら最速メンバーは最後の戦いに挑む。

この1970年のプリマスロードランナーは、「Fast and Furious 7」で使用された4つのオリジナルロードランナーのうち、現在残っている2台のうちの1台です。
映画で「プリムス・ロードランナー」の最もエキサイティングなシーンの1つは、ドミニクが墓地からロサンゼルスのダウンタウンを通り、6番街橋を越えてトンネルに入るジェイソンステイサムを追いかけたときでしょう。
では、この「プリムス・ロードランナー」のスペックです。

- This 1970 Plymouth Road Runner has the distinction of starring roles in “Fast and Furious” 4, 6 and 7. Of the four original Road Runners utilized in “Furious 7”, this particular car is one of only two that remain today. Two time GSCA Nationals winner Michelle Rodriguez and Vin Diesel drove this Road Runner as the Gray Hammer in “Fast and Furious” 3, 4 and 6, with Diesel going solo in the Road Runner in “Furious 7.” One of the most exciting uses of the Road Runner in the films might very well be when Diesel chased Jason Statham from a cemetery, through downtown Los Angeles, across the 6th Street Bridge and into the tunnels. Currently wearing a striking paint job of FK5 Burnt Orange with a semi-gloss black lift-off hood with scoop and white “440 6BBL” callouts, this machine is actually powered by a high-performance 360 CI V-8 engine fed by a 4-barrel carburetor and backed by an automatic transmission. The callouts are nicely done—after all, Dodge had the 6-Pack, Plymouth had the 6-Barrel. And, yes, even though Diesel was shifting in the movie, the reality is that all four Road Runners used to make the movie were automatics—certainly not the first time Hollywood has implemented that little trick. In this case, the Road Runner uses a Pistol Grip shifter to aid in the Hollywood illusion that this is a manual transmission. The engine features a modified camshaft lending it a few more ponies. Featuring power steering and power brakes with front discs, this Road Runner uses a JAZ fuel cell instead of the factory tank, and it rolls on Centerline Wheels. Documented with a car key list complete with the serial numbers of the cars used in the movies, this is one great opportunity to acquire a piece of movie history.
